Free Things To Do In Vancouver

Most of the sightseeing in Vancouver costs a fortune to put it quiet bluntly. Do not panic! I found some great super saving cheats while I was here. If you search things to do here, chances are the Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of the first things on your list. While this is a great day out and experience, it does cost around $40 CAD. A budget buster for any of us backpackers. However, there are some free alternatives:
Lynn Canyon
The same experience as the Capilano suspension bridge, but completely FREE! Crazy right?
Grouse Mountain

Another major attraction that can be done free. While the gondola ride to one of the mountain peaks is a fantastic is experience, it does cost an eye watering $45 CAD…BUT! You can hike up this mountain for free too. Bearing in mind it is a steep 3km ascent, you can manage this hike in 40 minutes (with a brisk stride). With free live shows on throughout the day up there, including the lumberjack show. In addition, the friendly/not-friendly bears are a real treat and make the trip so worth it.

Other than these two main attractions, there are many free things to do whilst in Vancouver without having to feel shame of skimping on money. My favourite things to do In Vancouver for free are:

Visit Wreck Beach

An internationally-acclaimed 7.8 km long clothing-optional Beach. Making it North America’s largest Naturist beach.

Walk through Stanley Park

400 hectares of West coast rainforest right in the city centre

Stroll down Yaletown/Gastown/Robson st/Granville st

Trendy areas will plenty of retail therapy. Guaranteed to see some nighttime ‘characters’. (Granville st being a personal favourite of mine)

Visit UBC

A unique university with some of the most amazing campuses and grounds I have ever seen

See…the best things in life are free(ish)!
